Slipway Cottage within the highly sought after fishing village of Appledore, with its delightful quayside harbour and winding streets. A delightful character cottage which is endowed with boundless ‘old world’ charm yet having been fully renovated, offering every modern convenience. The property has feature fireplaces, exposed beams, part exposed stone walls and benefits from gas central heating. The accommodation comprises of an entrance porch, comfortable sitting room with colour television, dvd/cd player. There is a gas fire set in a feature fireplace for those cozy evenings in, and a plentiful supply of board games and dvds for all the family. The view from the window looks down the slipway onto the beach and the estuary beyond. The open plan dining room comfortably seats four people and is conveniently situated next to the kitchen; fully equipped to a high standard it includes a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The ceiling in the kitchen consists of a huge glass bubble flooding the whole kitchen and dining area with light. The property has two bedrooms and sleeps four people; the master bedroom having a king size bed. This room also overlooks the estuary - there is nothing more relaxing than hearing the sound of the waves washing up the slipway to soothe you off to sleep. The twin bedded room overlooks the garden to the rear of the property, furnished to the same high standard as the other rooms, but decorated with children in mind. The family bathroom has a bath, a separate electric shower, wc and washbasin. To the rear of the cottage there are steps up to a delightful patio area. There is plenty of garden furniture, which is ideal for ‘al fresco’ dining. There is the option of renting a Beach Hut at the infamous Westward Ho! beach. Slipway Cottage provides all bedding and we would remind guests to bring their own towels. A travel cot with bedding, high chair and changing mat is included. There is a welcome pack on arrival which gives detailed information about the area including various visitor attractions and restaurants.

There are plenty of local attractions for families and couples alike for both wet and dry days. Nearby you will find the village of Northam, the Burrows Country Park, as well as the resort village of Westward Ho! with its award winning beaches and championship golf course. Approximately 1 mile distance is the port of Bideford which provides a wide range of shopping including a retail outlet village nearby. 4 miles away are the coastal villages of Clovelly and Hartland Quay with their breathtaking views, whilst the centre of Barnstaple is only 9 miles away, with access beyond to the national motorway network. Clovelly is also home of the North Devon Bird of Prey Centre, and if you really fancy something wild, we can provide you with details of various falconry courses that you can book in advance. There are plenty of National Trust properties in the area as well as the renowned RHS Rosemoor Gardens just a few miles away. Alternatively you could take a day trip to Lundy Island to see the remarkable Puffins. Whether you want to hire bicycles and cycle the Tarka trail, embark on a sea-fishing trip or enjoy the excitement of crab-fishing and rock-pooling on your doorstep there is something for everyone on this delightful coastland.
