About me: I grew up in Essex, so my early beach memories are of Walton on the Naze and Sunday school outings (which I'm afraid where my main reason for joining);  Clacton, where a friend's parents had a beach hut; and Maldon on the Mud, where a walk on the beach was like wading through non-stinging jellyfish. I must go back and visit some time....

Until recently I lived in Pakefield, which has a very particular, unique beach, overlooked on the cliff by a church whose doves seem to share their time between the belfry and masquerading as gulls on the beach, and by more seats than you'd have thought possible in a public space. There are a few mulitcoloured huts above the beach, some more sombre black ones down on the shingle. Then on the final crest of shingle before the dip down to the sea is a row of fishing boats covered in red, yellow and blue oilcloths, which I have photographed endlessly. Last summer I had an OpenStudio of these photos, and currently have a selection of them in the Upstairs Gallery, Exchange Square, Beccles (www.theupstairsgallery.co.uk)

Last autumn I moved to Iken, near Orford, and am enjoying exploring the coast of this part of Suffolk, an area I only knew slightly before.

However, my favourite beach huts are still those in Wells and I look forward to visiting the North Norfolk coast again in the summer.
