The cheerful and characterful vintage hut, on the front row along the promenade at Southcliff, is available for weekly lets, or for shorter periods if required. The promenade can be accessed by car at off-peak times, so the hut is ideal for those unable to walk long distances, BUT it is up six steep steps from the promenade. This gives a grand elevated view of passersby and of the beach but may make it unsuitable for disabled visitors, or for very small children. There is an excellent view of the beach from the hut which makes the hut ideal for families with bigger children, as they can play safely on the sand while you drink your tea and watch them from the hut.
The super-clean toilet block is two huts away, the drinking water tap is six huts along, and the pier and beach café is a few minutes' walks - within sight but far enough so that you don't get nagged all day. The hut is on the dog-friendly section of the beach, and dogs are welcome at the hut. I've owned it since my daughter was small, and bought it from a lady who had also used it when her children were growing up. She had bought it from an elderly lady who had owned it for years and years from now and had used it with both her children and grandchildren. So it has a long history of being a family hut and is genuine vintage rather than modern vintage.
It's called Tango now, but was called Tonga originally after the Queen of Tonga visited the UK for the Queen's coronation in 1953 - one of the previous owner's sons thought that was a silly name, so they reversed two letters, but I still use the elderly broom with the original name painted on it. The hut contains an assortment of toys, games, and china, and you are welcome to use anything that's there. There are smarter, more glamorous huts along Southcliff, but if you are happy just being at home in someone else's home then this may be the hut for you.
