The newly built “2019” hut overlooks ‘Holloway's dock', a lagoon used to load ironstone excavated from the Head in the 1850s but is now a haven for wading birds which can be watched from the comfort of the beach hut veranda. Hengistbury, the harbor, and the lowland marshes of Stanpit have been designated a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which is home to a huge variety of migrating bird species and mammals.
The hut is reachable by either foot or for a small fee by land train or ferry from Mudeford Quay. There are various parking options that will inform you of prior to your visit. The hut sleeps 5 and has a gas cooker (x4 hob, grill, and oven) and a 12v solar fridge/ freezer. Hut 252 Is beautifully furnished, a new hut but specifically rebuilt with an old-style vibe for those relaxing evenings. It is beautifully lit with state-of-the-art LED lights, all on dimmers, and very subtle, all powered by solar where you can also charge your phone/tablet via a USB port. There are plenty of books and board games for old-fashioned fun in the evenings. DAB radio, BBQ, kayaks, sun loungers, binoculars, buckets & spades are all there for you to use. If there is anything else you feel you will need just let me know. have lovely neighbors who also enjoy the tranquillity of the Spit but please be considerate as they are only a few feet away although handy if you run out of sugar.
